JAKARTA - The Lampung Provincial Government has banned state civil servants (ASN) in its territory from taking leave at the end of the year in an effort to prevent increased mobility of citizens who are at risk of increasing the transmission of COVID-19.

"Based on the Circular Letter of the Minister of PAN-RB Number 13 of 2021, ASN is not allowed to leave unless there is an urgent need," said Lampung Provincial Secretary Fahrizal Darminto in Bandarlampung, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 18.

"The appeal letter will be followed up with a letter from the Governor of Lampung, which will later be forwarded to regents and mayors in 15 regencies and cities," he said.

According to him, the policy was implemented to prevent an increase in cases of COVID-19 transmission during the year-end holiday.

"Control measures in the community will also be carried out, such as at tourist attractions or entertainment venues to prevent potential crowds," he said.

He reminded residents to reduce mobility and remain disciplined in implementing health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"We have to take care of everything, one of which is the health protocol," he said.

In addition to restricting state civil servants from taking leave and traveling outside the region on holidays, the central government has cut the period of collective leave to suppress the movement of citizens during the long holiday.

The policy was implemented to prevent a spike in COVID-19 transmission during the long holiday period.
