Students Suddenly Protest Dedi Mulyadi While Cleaning The Market In Purwakarta

PURWAKARTA - A student protested the clean-up action carried out by DPR member Dedi Mulyadi at Pasar Rebo, Purwakarta Regency, West Java.

“Akang (Dedi Mulyadi) here as what? What is the legal basis?” asked Yudha Dawami, a student at STAI Muttaqien Purwakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 17.

The student suddenly protested when Dedi Mulyadi carried out a clean-up action at Purwakarta's Rebo Market. Students protested and questioned Dedi's capacity to clean up trash in the area.

The incident began when Dedi Mulyadi cleaned up trash with the Pasar Rebo Purwakarta Association (Iwapa). In addition, Dedi held discussions with the authorities to jointly organize traders, which the government immediately responded positively.

In order to clean up the scattered garbage and help the authorities to order the merchants' stalls, Dedi also took the initiative to invite motorcycle taxi drivers to help.

"How many people are there in this motorcycle taxi? Pretending to help me clean the market later, I will be paid Rp150,000 per person," said Dedi.

However, during the act of picking up trash, Dedi was suddenly approached by a young man who claimed to be a student of STAI Muttaqien, questioning Dedi's capacity as to what made him clean the garbage.

“I am here as a resident of this clean Purwakarta. If you clean the environment there must be a legal basis?” Dedi said.

Then Yudha continued to protest and judged that Dedi was not authorized because he was not a technical implementer.

However, Dedi reasoned that he was cleaning up the garbage because he said that he was a Purwakarta resident who loved cleanliness.

The student continued to protest Dedi's answer. He felt that what he expressed was a protest from the people he represented.

Hearing this, Dedi asked which community Yudha represented. However, Yudha did not answer and continued to ask about Dedi's authority and competence in cleaning waste in the market.

"Cleaning this (garbage) does not require authority or competence," said Kang Dedi.

Pausing for a while, the former Regent of Purwakarta invited Yudha to join in the cleaning, but was refused on the grounds that there was a discussion agenda.

Furthermore, Dedi welcomed, anyone has the right to protest or criticize. However, it must be accompanied by examples.

“Criticism must be by example. Because the public today likes practical things," he said.
