PEKANBARU - Head of the Riau Province Health Service (Diskes), Mimi Yuliani Nazir reminded travel managers to immediately direct their prospective pilgrims to be injected with the COVID-19 vaccine.

This vaccination is important as the main requirement for participants to perform Umrah in Mecca.

"To increase the readiness of the prospective Umrah pilgrims, the Riau Health Office has also held a meeting with Umrah travel managers, because the COVID-19 vaccine is the main requirement for going to Mecca," said Mimi Yuliani Nazir in Pekanbaru, Antara, Wednesday, November 17.

According to Mimi, if Umrah travel managers find it difficult to get a COVID-19 vaccine for their congregation, then they can contact the nearest health department.

In addition to the health department, he said, Umrah travel managers can also get vaccines through health facilities.

"Regarding the schedule and departure of prospective Umrah pilgrims is outside the authority of the Riau Health Office, the important thing is to prepare first. In addition, when the prospective Umrah pilgrims have been vaccinated, then they can repay other preparations of course," he said.

The coverage of dose 1 vaccination in Riau Province per day has reached 43.67 percent. This figure is equivalent to 2.11 million vaccine participants from the set target of 4.84 million people.

Meanwhile, 28.5 percent of the target has been achieved for the second dose of vaccination until yesterday. Based on the target group, the details of the vaccination to ward off the COVID-19 virus in Riau are the health HR group with a target of 32.92 thousand participants.

At dose 1, 32.92 thousand people were successfully vaccinated (136.59 percent of the target) and for dose 2, 129.01 percent or 42.48 thousand people were vaccinated.

Vaccination to public officers with a target of 349.42 thousand people. Vaccination dose 1 was reported to have reached 580.91 thousand people (166.25 percent of the target) and dose 2 with an achievement of 141.94 percent or 495.97 thousand people were successfully distributed. Then vaccination to the elderly targeted 322.47 thousand people.

For dose 1, it has been given to 78.21 thousand people (24.25 percent of the target). Meanwhile, for the second dose of vaccination, only 16.66 percent or 53.73 thousand people were reached.
