KPK Summons Deputy Head Of Criminal Investigation Unit Of Semarang Polrestabes As Witness In Azis Syamsuddin Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the Deputy Head of the Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Agus Supriyadi. He was questioned in connection with the alleged bribery in handling the corruption case in Central Lampung that ensnared the former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin.

"Agus Supriyadi, the National Police are being questioned as witnesses for suspect AZ," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati to reporters, Tuesday, November 16.

Besides Agus, investigators have also scheduled an examination of a private party, Rizky Cinde Awaliyah. The examination of the two witnesses was carried out at the Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

It is not yet known what the examination materials will be asked of the witnesses. However, Agus Supriyadi is known to have accompanied former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju to meet with Azis Syamsuddin at his residence.

This was revealed in the trial with the defendant Stepanus Robin Pattuju some time ago at the Corruption Court. At that time, Agus was presented as a witness.

At the meeting held around February to May 2020, Agus admitted that he only introduced Stepanus to Azis. Not only that, he also said that Stepanus called Azis Syamsuddin as a foster father and that Azis took the initiative to ask for the cellphone number of the former KPK investigator. Previously, former Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party Azis Syamsuddin was named a suspect related to the alleged bribery handling of the corruption case being handled by the KPK in Central Lampung. This award was given to Stepanus Robin Pattuju who had been dismissed from his job as an investigator.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Azis and former General Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG) Aliza Gunado gave bribes to KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju (SRP) worth Rp. 3.1 billion from an agreement of Rp. 4 billion.

The money was given to Stepanus so that the former investigators would secure their position in the alleged corruption of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in Central Lampung.
