Japanese Airline ANA Will Fly 'Demon Slayer' Anime-themed Plane From Next Year

JAKARTA - An All Nippon Airways (ANA) aircraft decorated with characters from the global hit anime series "Demon Slayer" will begin flying on domestic routes from late January next year, parent company ANA said Monday.

In collaboration with the anime, which will air for a second season in early December, ANA will feature an in-flight announcement with character voices, said ANA Holdings Inc.

Images of 'Demon Slayer' characters, including hero Tanjiro Kamado, will appear on the B-767, with a second 'Demon Slayer' themed aircraft expected to be operational sometime in fiscal 2021 through March of next year, according to ANA Holdings.

Starting December 1, the Japanese airline will also launch a year-long campaign on all domestic flights providing paper cups and anime-inspired toys for children.

The episode "Demon Slayer," which tells the story of Kamado, a teenage boy fighting a man-eating demon while searching for a cure for his younger brother, who has turned into a demon, will also be broadcast on international and domestic flights.

“We are excited to partner with Demon Slayer to generate excitement and share Japanese culture with a wider audience,” said Junko Yazawa, ANA's senior vice president of customer experience management and planning, citing Kyodo News Nov. 15.

To note, a film based on the manga series "Demon Slayer" became the highest-grossing film in Japanese box-office history after its release in October 2020. The manga series, which issued the 23rd and final volume in book form that year, has sold over 150 million copies.
