His Support Will Determine The 2024 Presidential Election, Jokowi Is Considered To Be Neutral

JAKARTA - Support from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is said to determine victory for the figures who will later compete in the 2024 presidential election contestation. This is because Jokowi still has popularity and a loyal mass base.

However, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) assesses that Jokowi will be neutral towards competing figures in the next five-year democratic party.

"After all, Mr. Jokowi's popularity and loyalty are still high. Mr. Jokowi's positioning in the presidential election will determine the ups and downs of a candidate's vote," said CSIS researcher Arya Fernandes in a statement quoted on Monday, November 15.

According to him, the person who is likely to be supported by Jokowi is someone close to him. For example, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Chairman of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, or also the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo.

"My guess is that the current situation is that there are a number of candidates who are very close to the President," he said. However, Jokowi is predicted to be neutral, even supporting all the names that claim to run for the democratic party. The reason, continued Arya, if Jokowi shows partiality it will affect the public side.

"With all the many variations, I suspect Mr. Jokowi will be neutral and maybe support everyone," he said.
