JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives has proposed a budget of IDR 49 billion for visits to electoral districts to meet residents next year. However, this activity is different from recess.
This proposal is included in the Regional House of Representatives Annual Work Plan (RKT) budget on the General Policy on Budget and Temporary Budget Priority Ceiling (KUA-PPAS) of the 2022 Regional Budget.
"This visit is not a recess, but a kind of pre-recess. On that basis, we budget every month for council members to their respective electoral districts. The total budget is IDR 49 billion", said the Head of the Finance Section of the DKI Regional House of Representatives Secretariat, Augustinus, when contacted, Friday, 12 November.
Augustinus said this proposal uses the legal basis of the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 90 of 2019 concerning Classification, Codification, and Nomenclature of Regional Development Planning and Finance.
If approved in the 2022 Regional Budget, this visit to residents will be carried out once a month. Later, the 106 Regional House of Representatives members will receive a budget of around IDR 4 billion per month.
If divided equally, each Regional House of Representatives member will pocket a budget of up to IDR 40 million per month for the visit.
"A month it's IDR 4 billion for 106 members. So, for one Regional House of Representatives member, one visit is approximately IDR 35 to IDR 40 million a month. If you add up a year or multiply by 12 months, it becomes IDR 49 billion", said Augustinus.

Augustinus explained that the budget for the visit will be used for accommodation, such as providing food to the community, renting tents, and buying stationary equipment.
However, Augustine emphasized that this would not necessarily be approved. This is because the proposed visit has never been carried out in previous years.
"But this has just been proposed. It hasn't passed the evaluation results (from the Ministry of Home Affairs). So, the evaluation results can be lost and it's not necessarily 2022. That's just a proposal", he concluded.
