7 Positive COVID-19 Students, Kulon Progo COVID-19 Task Force Stops SD PTM In Kalibawang

KULON PROGO - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, has proposed a temporary cessation of face-to-face learning at an elementary school in Kalibawang District. The reason is that seven students were confirmed to have COVID-19 from the results of a random swab test or surveillance.

"The survey of elementary school students in Kalibawang was carried out on Monday (8/11), and the result was that there were seven confirmed COVID-19 students. Based on these findings, we have temporarily suspended the face-to-face learning (PTM) so that transmission does not occur," said the spokesperson. The Kulon Progo COVID-19 Task Force Baning Rahayujati in Kulon Progo was quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 11.

From surveillance activities carried out by the Health Office, officers found that there were 21 students who were confirmed to be COVID-19. The positive cases were spread across various regions, including one case in an elementary school in the Pengasih area, one case in an elementary school in the Temon area, and three positive cases in an elementary school in the Nanggulan area.

Meanwhile for the first day, Wednesday, November 10, the task force recorded an additional nine positive cases in a public high school in Kulon Pprogo and seven cases in an elementary school in Kalibawang District.

"So far, there have been 21 positive cases out of a total of 322 students and teachers who have been examined, from as many as nine schools that have carried out surveillance," he said.

The secretary of the Kulon Progo Health Service said that the school that was the location of the infection would be closed for the next 15 days. Then students who are confirmed positive are also asked to self-isolate for the same period of time.

"For students who are confirmed positive, all of them are Asymptomatic (OTG), so they are only asked to self-isolate," he said.
