Police Reveals Tubagus Joddy's Negligence While Driving: Playing With His Phone, Posting Instagram Story, Calling His Parents

SURABAYA - The police revealed several shreds of evidence of the negligence of Vanessa Angel's driver, Tubagus Muhammad Joddy Prames Setya alias Joddy until he was named a suspect in the fatal accident case on the Jombang Toll Road KM 672+300.

“The suspect, Joddy, already knows that someone who drives a vehicle cannot play with a cellphone. This is an intentional thing that he did," said the Director of Lantas of the East Java Police, Kombes Latif Usman, at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters in Surabaya, Thursday, November 11.

In addition, Latif continued, the suspect Joddy also had time to upload an Instastory on Instagram. This evidence became one of the police's clues, Tubagus Joddy had deliberately played with his cellphone while driving.

"For example, at 11.58 a.m., the suspect Joddy while driving also contacted his parents," he said.

Another proof, said Latif, is that the vehicle driven by Tubagus Joddy was traveling at a speed of 130 kilometers per hour. This speed violates the rules for signs installed on the Jombang-Surabaya Toll Road, which is 80 kilometers per hour.

"The vehicle should be traveling at a speed of 80 km per hour, according to the rules of the signs installed on the Jombang-Surabaya toll road," said Latif.

Latif appealed to the public to be more careful when driving, and not to play with cellphones. And obey traffic signs, such as not exceeding the specified speed.

"Therefore, these are the things that people really need to pay attention to, how important it is for us to be careful on the road," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect, Tubagus Joddy, was charged with Article 310 Paragraph 4 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 concerning Traffic with a threat of six years in prison and a fine of IDR 12 million. Or Article 311 Paragraph 5 of Law Number 22 concerning Highway Transport Traffic with a penalty of 12 years in prison and a fine of IDR 24 million.
