JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) team monitored the rehabilitation process for 33 child victims of sexual violence in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

Dozens of victims of sexual violence who are students at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Ogan Ilir Regency are currently being rehabilitated at the Budi Perkasa Hall belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

KSP expert, Erlinda, said that the rehabilitation of victims of sexual violence must be carried out with a humanistic approach because they have experienced severe physical and mental trauma.

"Moreover, the trauma experienced by children is very different and requires different treatment," she said in a KSP press release in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 10.

She stated, the case that occurred in the South Sumatra region became an alarm to the government and all elements of society to immediately transform the system for handling and protecting victims of violence, which was integrated with ministries and institutions and made national standards.

"The president's directive to reform the management of sexual harassment cases needs to be followed up seriously by the regions," she said.
