226 Villages In East Aceh Prone To Floods During The Rainy Season

ACEH - East Aceh Regent Hasballah said as many as 226 of the 513 gampongs or villages spread across 24 sub-districts in the district are prone to flooding during the rainy season.

"Based on data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency, there are 226 villages in East Aceh Regency that are prone to flooding during the rainy season," said Hasballah in East Aceh, reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

The regent said that his party had instructed BPBD ranks and other relevant agencies to be ready to face floods. Especially now that it's the rainy season.

"We ask the ranks of the alert, especially the areas most prone to flooding such as Pante Bidari District and a number of other vulnerable points," said Hasballah, who is familiarly called Rocky.

According to Hasballah, anticipation of disasters such as floods needs to be done from the start so that fatalities can be prevented and save people's property during disasters.

"It is also necessary to anticipate disasters so that they are not confused when a disaster occurs. This can also minimize casualties and property losses," said Hasballah. The Head of BPBD of East Aceh Regency, Ashadi said his party had prepared a number of needs in the event of a disaster such as refugee tents, rubber boats , as well as the preparation of joint personnel.

“We also remind the public, especially in watersheds, to be more careful because river overflows can occur at any time. If a flood occurs, immediately inform us," said Ashadi.
