Disappointed With Permendikbud Nadiem Makarim, Ryamizard: Millennials Don't Understand Religion, Damaged Morals!

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu, highlighted the polemic of the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education, which was published on August 31, 2021.

Previously, the House of Representatives considered that the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, had multiple interpretations. Because in the regulation, there is the phrase "without the consent of the victim" which is considered to contain sexual consent.

In this regard, Ryamizard expressed his disappointment with the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim.

"I'm also a bit disappointed in the Minister of Education and Culture", said Ryamizard in the online 'National Dialogue, Defending the State with Shared Responsibilities', which was held by the Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) online, Wednesday, November 10.

Ryamizard then mentioned the need to instill national insight into the educational environment. According to him, the cultivation of moral values and national insight in the educational environment is very important today.

"If you make a child great, it means that he is moral, national, it starts from the first grade of elementary school", he said.

In addition to inculcating moral values and national insight, Ryamizard also reminded the importance of education that deepens religious teachings for the nation's children.

Because, according to him, the morals formed by millennials will be 'damaged' if it is not followed by education of moral values, national insight, and religious teachings.

"Now it has to be millennial. If it's not millennial, then it's outdated, but it must be coupled with national insight. So he must understand this nation, he understands its heroes, and also he must understand his religion, so he doesn't go out anywhere", he said.

Therefore, Ryamizard remembers Millennials to hold fast to moral values, national and religious views.

"Stay with the three. Now millennials don't understand religion, there is a lot of moral corruption. This is important, I say. Otherwise, it's getting worse day by day, right", explained Ryamizard.
