NIAS - Nias National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) is looking for two fishermen from South Gunungsitoli District, Gunungsitoli City, North Sumatra, who went missing while fishing in the waters around Onolimbu Island, Nias Regency.

Head of the Nias Basarnas Office, M. Agus Wibiso, through the Public Relations of the Nias Basarnas, Asanimu Waruwu, confirmed that two fishermen from South Gunungsitoli were missing while fishing in the waters of Onolimbu Island.

The two fishermen are Wata Putra Warasi (20) a resident of Luaha Laraga Village, South Gunungsitoli District, and Ama Putri Ndruru (40) a resident of Humene Satua, South Gunungsitoli District.

He said that the SAR Nias office personnel had been contacted by one of the missing fishermen asking for evacuation assistance because the boat they were traveling in had an engine failure.

"The two of them left for Onolimbu Island on Tuesday to fish, but in the waters near Onolimbu Island, the engine of the boat they were traveling on broke and died. They tried to repair the boat's engine, but it didn't work, so their boat was swayed by the current," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

Nias Basarnas deployed seven personnel to search for the two missing fishermen using RIB 04 Nias.
