Jakarta's Unemployment Rate Decline Is The Highest In Indonesia, Deputy Governor: Thanks To Collaboration

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, responded to the recording of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which stated that the decline in Jakarta's open unemployment rate during the past year was the highest in Indonesia.

According to Riza, Jakarta became the province that experienced the most unemployment reduction thanks to the collaboration of all parties.

"The unemployment rate in Jakarta has decreased compared to other provinces and is among the highest declines. This is thanks to cooperation and collaboration with all parties", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 5.

For this achievement, Riza considers it a sign that the economic conditions in the capital are getting better. He hopes that the economy will recover, even more, considering that currently, Jakarta has entered PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) Level 1.

Therefore, Riza asked the public to continue to increase their purchasing power to support the economy of business actors, especially MSMEs.

"Let's support and we encourage MSMEs to be improved, the presence of MSMEs more and more. We always ask the community to also help socialize and promote and spend through existing MSMEs", he explained.

Previously, BPS noted that the decline in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in DKI Jakarta was the highest in Indonesia. Jakarta's TPT for the past year has decreased by 2.45 percent, from August 2020 to August 2021.

"We note that the largest decrease in the open unemployment rate occurred in Jakarta, which was 2.45 percent", said Head of BPS DKI, Buyung Airlangga, in a virtual press conference.

This means that during the past year, the absorption of labor in Jakarta occurred as many as 78 thousand people and a decrease in the number of unemployed by 133 thousand people.

Currently, the TPT in DKI Jakarta is 8.50 percent after a decline. Despite experiencing the highest decline rate in Indonesia, TPT in Jakarta is still above the national TPT of 6.49 percent.
