Bali Must Learn From Thailand If You Want Tourism To Rise

DENPASAR - Coordinator of the Expert Group for Development in the Field of Tourism, Bali, I.G.A.N Rai Surya Wijaya stressed the importance of efforts to attract foreign tourists to Bali without quarantine.

"The most urgent thing that we must strive for right now, especially to be able to attract foreign tourists to come to Bali, is to eliminate quarantine", said Surya Wijaya in Denpasar, Friday, November 5.

According to him, currently, foreign tourists who come to Bali must be quarantined for 3 x 24 hours. Even though it is much better than an 8-day or 5-day quarantine, it still becomes an obstacle for tourists to vacation in Bali.

While abroad, one of the countries that have removed quarantine for migrants in Thailand.

"We have to learn from Thailand if we want tourism and Bali's economy to quickly rise", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, said that all Bali tourism development programs were continued. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bali tourism was stagnant because there was no foreign tourist movement to Bali.

"Therefore, after this pandemic, Bali tourism must be worked on more seriously to lead to quality and sustainable Balinese cultural tourism", he said.

According to him, building Balinese cultural tourism is like building a house with five pillars, namely academics, business, community, government, and media which is often abbreviated as ABCGM.

These five pillars must be equally strong along with the commitment of stakeholders.

"So is Balinese cultural tourism, if these five pillars support each other and have the same goal for our progress together, then Bali tourism will definitely be strong, sturdy and of course quality and sustainable tourism will be realized", he said.

Meanwhile, the former head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Putu Astawa, said that there was some task that had not been completed, one of which was the development of digital tourism which had to be continued.

"Because this program will greatly support the development of quality and sustainable Balinese cultural tourism, as well as other programs that cannot be run due to the COVID-19 pandemic for almost two years", said Astawa.
