JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta, through the DKI Parks and Forestry Service, to increase the purchase of burial land.
This he revealed during the deepening of the discussion of the General Budget Policy and the Priority of the Temporary Budget Ceiling (KUA-PPAS) of the DKI APBD for the 2022 budget year.
"Now I say just add more graves. There must be an expansion," Taufik told reporters, Thursday, November 4.
Taufik considers that currently DKI is in the middle of a cemetery land crisis. The surge in COVID-19 cases, the fullness of hospitals a few months ago resulted in the death toll in the capital increasing. Thus, a lot of grave land is used.
"Now the graves are finished. Yesterday, a lot of land was suddenly depleted due to COVID-19. But those who died non-COVID-19 must be buried as well. We anticipate going forward," said Taufik.
Taufik confirmed that there are still empty graves in the Rorotan area, North Jakarta. In July 2021, the DKI Provincial Government only added 10 hectares of grave land to be matured.
However, Taufik views that the addition of grave land is not only in one location. It is better if the additional land for the tomb is spread in various areas of the capital city.
"Cook, residents in Kebayoran were buried in Rorotan? It's far, sorry. In each region, for example, in Jeruk Purut and Pondok Ranggon. If it's not enough, add it so that the burying isn't too far," he added.
