JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria responded to a request from residents of Cipinang Melayu, East Jakarta, who asked for river normalization. Residents in this area were previously flooded.

"Yes, the normalization process continues, as we have said, regarding the normalization program in collaboration with the Ministry of PUPR or the central government. It is our job for the provincial government to carry out land acquisition, which is the task of the PUPR (Ministry of Public Works and Housing) to build the embankment for the normalization site", said Deputy Governor of DKI, Riza Patria, to reporters, Tuesday, November 2.

He emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government is continuing to process land acquisition. But this business called Riza is not an easy thing.

"Because there are so many lands in Jakarta that are still in overlapping disputes, some have duplicate documents and so on. This land problem in Jakarta is still a crucial problem that we need to tackle together. Likewise, we always remind all residents that land certificates are properly guarded, if they are still Girik (power of attorney over land, including land tenure, both hereditary and customary), they are taken care of so that they become certificates", said Riza.

"It is ensured that the land is controlled and controlled so that it is not snatched or taken by people and often has to be checked with the National Land Agency, lest we feel safe at home, our certificates will not be falsified", he continued.

Previously, settlements on the banks of the Sunter River located in 7 RT, RW 04, Cipinang Melayu Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta were flooded, Monday, November 1.

As a result of the flood, several residents living in the area along the Sunter River had to evacuate to a higher area.
