SURABAYA - East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta emphasized severe sanctions for police officers who violate the code of ethics.

This follows the instructions of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, so that his subordinates take firm action against members of the Bhayangkara Corps who violate the rules.

"The National Police Chief has firmly instructed members who violate the code of ethics to take firm action, even criminally if they violate the law. I will also make sure to fire any members involved in drugs," said Inspector General Nico, in Surabaya, Tuesday, November 2.

Inspector General Nico also instructed all ranks of the East Java Regional Police to carry out the order of the National Police Chief. The head of the regional unit (Kapolres/Kapolsek) and the head of the work unit must check, foster, and provide direction to their members.

"So that they can carry out their duties properly in providing services to the community, maintaining harkamtibmas, protecting, protecting the community and enforcing the law," he said.

If there are police officers who violate the code of ethics, Nico ensures that they will be carried out until the criminal law. On the other hand, police officers who excel will receive awards.

"So I ask specifically today to give a commitment, especially for members who use drugs, drug dealers must be fired. We will also give awards to members who excel," he said.

Regarding the number of members who are undergoing the code of ethics trial process, the Regional Police Chief has not disclosed the detailed number. Because, at this time it is still in the trial process.

"Later, we will announce the release at the end of the year, what is clear is that I saw the proceedings of the trial firsthand, so as not to play around," he said.

According to Inspector General Nico, the East Java Police have opened a reporting service regarding rogue police. It consists of three, the first to Irwasda, the second to the Head of Propam, and the third to the Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police.

"We opened the complaint post under the coordination of Mr. Irwasda, I ask the public not to hesitate and also media partners to be able to escort information," he said.
