JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was appointed an Honorary Member of the Indonesian Student Regiment Command (Menwa). Anies was inaugurated by the Commander of the Indonesian Student Regiment (Menwa) National Command, which was held by the Deputy Governor of DKI, Ahmad Riza Patria.

The appointment of the Honorary Members of the Indonesian Menwa National Command and the inauguration of the Menwa and Menwa Jayakarta Command Staff for the 2021-2024 period were held at the DKI Jakarta City Hall.

After being sworn in, Anies said he was honored to be part of the Indonesian Menwa.

"I thank you for the title of Honorary Member in the Menwa element. This is an honor in itself for us. I hope we can take part more with Menwa's friends," said Anies, Tuesday, November 2.

Anies admitted that he felt the positive results of Menwa's leadership training. Because his partner in the current government, Riza Patria, is a member of Menwa and is now the Battalion Commander 15 of Menwa Jayakarta.

"I feel all because my partner here, Mr. Deputy Governor, is he has experience as a Menwa as the National Command of the Indonesian Menwa. This is one example of the training in Menwa, growing leadership potential, and growing potential for service," said Anies.

The former Minister of Education and Culture considers Menwa to be a vehicle to develop student leadership potential.

“Menwa does not just anticipate current problems but places Menwa as a vehicle for preparing future leadership. This place is forged, leadership potential is grown, becomes a tough person and provides benefits for all,” said Anies.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of DKI Riza Patria expressed his high appreciation for the existence and work of Menwa Jayakarta so far, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic which has been running for almost two years.

"It can be said, there is almost no week that is not passed with activities in Jakarta residents, whether it is related to blood donation (with PMI), social assistance (with sub-districts) or vaccination movement (with the Health Service)," said Riza.
