JAKARTA - Aishameglio Duta Chiara has been a backing singer for Sheila On 7 on their last tour to five cities. Now, Duta's eldest daughter (vocals) is taking a new step by becoming a collaborator for Sheila On 7's latest single entitled "Memori Baik".

Aisha - her nickname - was chosen considering her figure is already familiar. She has appeared on most of Sheila On 7's stages since the beginning of this year.

"Aisha's participation also made Eross (guitar) remember that he had new song material that was indeed prepared for the featuring format," said Adam (bass) during a press conference in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Monday, November 25.

"The song is none other than 'Memori Baik'," continued the bassist.

Eross said that "Memori Baik" was indeed conceptualized to be sung with a collaborator. He said that this song is difficult to present with just one singer.

"And why did this song come to the surface and be heard by other friends, because Aisha had already participated in the stage helping Sheila on 7 as a backing vocalist. From there I thought, 'Oh yeah, I have a song that has a concept of featuring.' Then, what we are hearing now happened," said Eross.

"Enjoy. Hopefully, "Memori Baik" can make your days better. Amen," he added.

Meanwhile, "Memori Baik" was written with a different approach. If most of SO7's songs talk about romance, this song discusses the relationship between parents and their children.

The lyrics of "Memori Baik" can be interpreted that everyone must prepare themselves when the people closest to them - be it family, friends, or childhood friends - have to live their own lives.

"Alhamdulillah, for us this is quite an extraordinary achievement, considering the many stories in our lives together and personally," said Duta.

"Memori Baik" is the first song whose post-production process was carried out in Japan. After recording all the instruments and vocals in Yogyakarta, SO7 was assisted by Yuta Yoneyama for mixing and Hidezaku Sakai for mastering at Sony Music Studios, Akasaka, Minato City, Tokyo.

"What makes a significant difference for us is the mixing and mastering, because that is related to the engineer's taste, so we wanted to try a new experience there," said Adam.

In addition to the mixing-mastering process, SO7 also recorded live performance videos of several of their songs in the same studio.

"It just feels different, because if you take it live, the emotions are definitely more intense, while multitrack tracking is usually full of caution. Live tracking is a bit careless and sometimes that's what makes the atmosphere more lively," said the bassist.

"One more thing, the pleasant atmosphere in Japan is about the equipment. The equipment there is really a dream, in the sense that musicians always want to see studio equipment in more advanced countries. Well, that's what I feel. The equipment really makes it possible for us to do comfortable live tracking with guaranteed quality," concluded Eross.
