SBY Remains Active In Painting Even Though He Has Been Sentenced To Prostate Cancer

JAKARTA - The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is known to have prostate cancer. However, the illness did not interfere with SBY's daily activities.

His personal staff, Ossy Dermawan, explained that nothing had changed from SBY's activities. Moreover, prostate cancer was successfully detected when it was still in its early stages.

SBY still often sees Lavani volleyball club practicing. SBY also remains active in painting, reading and writing.

"Mr. SBY asks for prayers from his friends in particular and the Indonesian people in general so that the medical treatment carried out can run well," said Ossy in his official statement, Tuesday, November 2.

In the near future, SBY will immediately undergo treatment and treatment abroad. The decision was taken referring to the diagnosis from the Doctor Team.

Prostate cancer was successfully detected referring to the results of the examination either through the method of MRI, biopsy, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Specific Membrane Antigen (SMA) Scan and other examinations. The good news is that SBY's prostate cancer is still in its early stages.

"In accordance with Mr. SBY's current health condition, the team of doctors concludes that all options are open for treatment and healing of Mr. SBY," he continued.

After in-depth consultation with the Indonesian Doctors Team, including senior urologists, it was decided that medical treatment should be carried out at a hospital abroad that has long experience and advanced technology to treat prostate cancer.

"The communication between the Indonesian Doctor Team and the Doctor Team from a friendly country went well and foreign parties agreed and were willing to deal with Mr. SBY," he continued.

"The head of the overseas doctor team in direct communication with Mr. SBY (via telemedicine), after studying all the health data of Mr. SBY, expressed his optimism to be able to overcome the illness suffered by Mr. SBY," he said.
