JAKARTA - The musical Senja Teduh Pelita, which has received a warm welcome since ticket sales opened, officially started its series of performances at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta on July 3 to 12, 2026. The stage presented by Indonesia Kaya, Jakarta Movin and MALIQ & D'Essentials, brings a story that is not only entertaining, but also filled with various emotions and messages.

This stage presents a science fiction story about a group of children who try to rebuild the world after civilization collapses, while inviting the audience to reflect on human relationships with nature and the future. However, its slick packaging makes it not only suitable for children or teenagers, but also other age ranges.

Timeless songs from Maliq & D'Essentials are sung throughout the performance. There are unexpected surprises about the use of songs for certain scenes, and it turns out that's where the fun is.

Supported by young artists, who collaborate with those who are already full of experience, this connection makes it a solid work.

"We believe that performing arts have the power to connect generations while inviting people to reflect. Through this Musikal Senja Teduh Pelita, we want to continue to support the birth of quality works and provide a space for young talents to grow, which strengthens the Indonesian performing arts ecosystem," said Billy Gamaliel, Program Manager Indonesia Kaya.

On the way, they find a bay that is still intact and has not been touched by damage, which they then name Pelita Bay. In that place they are faced with a much bigger choice, continuing the search for their loved ones or building a new life in Pelita Bay. Slowly they realize that the greatest threat to the future is not only the broken world, but also the greed that can grow within humans.

Nuya Susantono acted as Producer and Director of the Musical Senja Teduh Pelita. He as a fan of Maliq & D'Essentials' works brings a deep message through the story he tries to convey.

"The story that happens in the Musical Senja Teduh Pelita is a universe that was born from inspiration for the genius of the beautiful, close, and reflective sounds and characters of MALIQ & D'Essentials. That within us there is a great love of Arah who will do anything for the people he loves. In us there is also Kala, who dares to think critically about what is right and wrong. And we are all the Pelita Team who continue to survive and fight to care for life," he said.

Around 20 MALIQ & D’Essentials songs, including Senja Teduh Pelita, Himalaya, Aurora, Jalan Pulang, to the song from the new album Begini Begitu, are interpreted as part of the emotional journey of the characters.

Angga Puradiredja, representing MAD, admitted that he was very touched by this performance. The tears of tears that were poured were proof of how beautiful works can touch the heart so deeply.

"Today, through the Musical Twilight of the Lamp, our songs find a new home. They are no longer just there to be heard, but also to be seen, felt, and brought to life in a new world. Maybe that's how it should be with living works. It doesn't stop at its first form. Hopefully this performance will be a warm space to meet again with songs that we may already know, through a different experience. And hopefully, after this performance is over, the songs will go home with you in a new way and feeling," he said.

Another uniqueness of this performance is through the main character Arah, who is played in two different interpretations, namely the male and female versions. Both go through the same story journey, but present different emotional experiences for the audience.

The musical Senja Teduh Pelita involves 32 actors, 11 of whom are children, as well as 200 creative people who together build an immersive musical theater experience. This performance combines stage design, multimedia, lighting design, costume design, choreography, and music design designed to bring the world of the Pelita Forces to life on stage.

All the music in the performance is arranged and performed live by the Wishnu Dewanta Orchestra, with a musical approach that is tailored to support the characters, the storyline, and the dynamics of the children's characters on stage.

Visually, the performance explores the use of projection mapping, laser games, and modular stage sets that can change and transform following the movement of space and the story's journey. The world of the Musical Sunset Shadow of the Lamp is also brought to life through puppetry techniques that present various Indonesian exotic animals such as deer, seagulls, and eagles, while the sea scenes are visualized through lasers, visual effects, and ensemble choreography that form fish and fireflies.

In line with the message raised in the performance, the Sunset Music with Lights also invites the audience to take concrete steps in protecting the earth through collaboration with Remind Indonesia, an electronic waste manager. During the performance period, the audience can bring electronic waste such as cellphones, headsets, cables, and other small electronic devices to be recycled responsibly.
