JAKARTA - California nu-metal band KoRn has good news to answer fans' curiosity.

After four years without releasing a full album since the album "Requiem" in 2022, James 'Munky' Shaffer (guitar) revealed that KoRn was hard at work on the 15th studio album.

Munky told how long the process had to be gone through in order to perfect the latest album. However, this creative process was very intensive, even the band had written about 40 songs.

"It took a very long time. I swear to God, we probably wrote almost 40 songs, then checked them again, rewrote them, threw them away, dismantled them, and built them up again from scratch," Munky said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone Brasil.

This perfectionist attitude was deliberately taken because KoRn wanted to keep their distinctive musical identity. Munky saw that the original character could not be eliminated, especially when all the personnel started playing their instruments.

In addition to discussing the latest music project, Munky finally spoke up about the departure of Reginald 'Fieldy' Arvizu (bass) in 2021.

He admitted that before deciding to break up, keeping Fieldy's focus and involvement in the studio was a challenge for the band.

"Trying to get him involved is a little difficult - just to stay in the room while we're writing songs," Munky said.

"He always goes away, is there for a few minutes then is not focused, and I think he loses his ambition," he added.

Even so, Munky insists there is no grudge between them. He considers this dynamic to be a natural cycle in the journey of a band, and prefers to call Fieldy's current status in a vacuum rather than a permanent separation.

"But it's okay. It happens. Everyone and everything moves in cycles. We're obviously not mad at him or anything, we want him to be happy. At the time, it seemed he didn't feel happy being an active musician," he concluded.
