JAKARTA - The Blues Shelter band continues to keep the blues music fire burning. The latest, the project that left Gugun as the core personnel will release the album Coming Out in vinyl version.
This is the first time Gugun has scored a vinyl for his work. Having started his discography record since the late 90s, he prefers his latest album to be a collectible vinyl.
It is undeniable, the 2007 album Turn It On or the self-titled album that aired in 2010 had a big part in expanding the audience of Gugun Blues Shelter music. Making vinyl from the two albums is an easy choice, but Gugun did not do it.
He decided to release Coming Out as the first vinyl, because according to the guitarist-singer from Riau, the album is a sentimental work for him.
"It's sold, sold at outlets in Jakarta and other cities. And it's in Brunei and in Malaysia too. So maybe I feel that this album is very sentimental for me," said Gugun GBS in a special interview with VOI a long time ago.
Gugun revealed that the process of writing songs on the album Coming Out happened quickly. There was a lot of anxiety and life experience that he tried to artistically pour through lyrics and licks of his signature guitar.
"I remember in December I worked as fast as lightning in writing it. I had a mood at that time. I felt that we were in COVID at that time, there was a lot of anxiety there. So maybe the band's anxiety, in everyday life, in the family. I also went to the hospital during COVID. So I had a lot of rest at that time that I felt that I should write my anxiety," he explained.
The vinyl version of Coiming Out will be released in two versions, a standard black and a special purple color. Ready to be launched on December 18, 2025, this album contains 10 slick compositions from Gugun, such as Bad Politician which won the 2024 AMI Awards, Don't Cry for Me to Delusional which brings the identity of blues with unexpected touches.
