JAKARTA - TikTok has officially announced global girl group Katseye as the winner of the Artist of the Year category for the Global TikTok Year in Music 2025.

This treatment completely confirms how the newcomer group has named it an unavoidable phenomenon on short video-based platforms, as well as proving TikTok's dominance in shaping tastes and recognition in the global music industry.

Since making her official debut in 2024, the girl group consisting of Megan, Yoonchae, Sophia, Manon, Lara, and Daniela has become one of the largest music groups in the world.

The numbers on TikTok are indisputable evidence of the claim, with fantastic gains of more than 30 billion views and 12 million video creations using their music.

This massive virality was quickly converted into a serious confession from the mainstream music scene. The group won two Grammy Award nominations, including the prestigious Best New Artist category.

On the charts, two single Katseye also managed to penetrate the Billboard Hot 100 chart, led by the flagship song "Gabriela" which reached its peak position at 31st.

In the list of global artists, Katseye is at the top of the throne, followed by Alan Arrieta and Enhypen, respectively in second and third positions. Other big names included in the top ten, including Bad Bunny, Stray Kids, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga.

On the other hand, TikTok also demonstrated its strength in reviving old music. The late Connie Francis' "Prety Little Baby" song also exploded surprisingly and was named Top Global Song of the Year.

The global TikTok community uses this song as their video soundtrack, which mostly features family and pet moments more than 28.4 million times, making it also the top song in the United States.

The original song, which was released in 1962, was used in 600,000 daily video creations throughout the first half of this year, including by public figures such as Kim Kardashian, North West, and Kylie Jenner.

The revival of this song was helped by a remix of German electronic music duo, Lizot, as well as the availability of original versions in various new languages, namely "La Seul Qui Taime" (France), "Alle Jungen Leute" (Germany), "Baby" (Italy), "Kawamen Beibi" (Japan), "Linda Muchachita" (Spain), and "Sjunger Phuska" (Sweden). Ironically,

Francis only joined TikTok in June 2025 and passed away a month later, at the age of 87.
