Former God Bless Drummer Yaya Moektio Dies At The Age Of 68

JAKARTA - Sad news has enveloped Indonesia's music scene again. Yahya Karya Konceptianto bin Moektio, a figure widely known as Yaya Moektio, the former God Bless drummer, breathed his last in Jakarta on Monday, December 8.

Musicians who are often referred to as one of the best rock drummers in his era passed away at the age of 68.

Information on Yaya Moektio's departure was confirmed directly by God Bless through their official Instagram account.

According to published information, Yaya Moektio died at 4.00 WIB while undergoing treatment at Fatmawati Hospital, South Jakarta.

God Bless, the band that helped raise his name also expressed a very deep sense of loss for his passing.

"We, from the big family of God Bless, convey the deep sad news. We passed away early today (8/12) at 04.00 WIB at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, our brother Mr Yahya Karya Konksisianto bin Moektio (Yaya Moektio)," reads God Bless's statement.

God Bless's acknowledgment of Yaya Moektio's vital role in their history was also emphasized. They said that the drummer's contribution would not be forgotten, indicating that Yaya was not just a member, but an important pillar that provided a unique color for the development of Indonesian music.

"He is an important part in the history of God Bless and the Indonesian music world, which will also provide colors and contributions that will never be forgotten," the statement continued.

Condolences were also conveyed to the bereaved family. "On behalf of the big family of God Bless, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May they be given fortitude and strength. Goodbye, Yaya. May you rest in peace by His side."
