Revision Of Copyright Law Has Not Been Completed, Piyu: The DPR Is Back On Recess

JAKARTA - The discussion on the revision of the Copyright Law (UU Hak Cipta) at Commission XIII of the DPR RI is not yet over, even though it has been two months since this revision is targeted for completion.

As is known, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco, stated that on August 21, the revision of the Copyright Law was targeted to be completed within two months.

However, Piyu as the General Chair of the All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) who was actively involved in discussing the revision of the Copyright Law said the target had to be postponed because members of the DPR were in recess.

"The target of the revision of the Copyright Law should be two months ago, yesterday it was conveyed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sufmi Dasco, but it turned out that yesterday his DPR member was in recess," Piyu said when met at the Ministry of Law, South Jakarta, Friday, October 31.

"So again on vacation, long holidays for approximately one month. We are waiting for later in November to start meeting again," added the Padi Reborn guitarist.

Piyu hopes that his party will still be involved when Commission XIII again discusses the revision of the Copyright Law. The reason is, he and his team have prepared documents and studies as requested.

"Hopefully we will be invited again to this formulation. We have prepared a list of inventory problems requested by the DPR, as well as academic texts," he said. "So, our proposal must be based on or armed with an academic spirit, there is a legal basis."

When asked further about when the revision of the Copyright Law was actually completed, Piyu did not know for sure and said that the entire process depended on the DPR. He prefers to focus on the involvement of ACTION in the discussion.

"We all depend on the members of the DPR. This member of the DPR is all on a holiday. So it was finally delayed," said Piyu.

"If we are from ACTION, we are asked to have a meeting every day, we are ready. And even we have prepared the manuscripts that we have prepared, so that later when the meeting starts, we can show it, "this, you know, we have prepared these presentations." he concluded.
