JAKARTA - Legendary Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant is confirmed to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th annual Americana Awards.

The Americana Music Association chose Plant as a form of appreciation for his great contribution to advancing Americana and American roots music.

Throughout his musical career, the British singer and songwriter has consistently shown a deep love for the blues, folk, gospel, and country genres.

Plant's involvement in the grassroots music scene is not just a momentary experiment. After gaining global popularity with Led Zeppelin, Plant has crossed the boundaries of genres - confirming him as one of the most dedicated interpreters and protectors of grassroots music.

One of the most monumental tracks was seen when he collaborated with Alison Krauss and T Bone Burnett on the album "Raising Sand" in 2007. The successful album won a Grammy and even prompted the Recording Academy to officially open a new category, Best Americana Album.

Plant's exploration did not stop there. He continued his musical adventure with Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller in the Band of Joy project, then returned to duet with Krauss on the album "Raise the Roof" (2021).

Later, through the Saving Grace project and the EP "Saving Grace: All That Glitters...", Plant teamed up with Suzi Dian to reinterpret classic works by Gillian Welch, Memphis Minnie, to Blind Willie Johnson.

The Executive Director of the Americana Music Association, Jed Hilly, confirmed that Plant's relationship with this genre of music goes far beyond mere influence. According to him, Plant's actions reflect true passion and dedication.

"Robert Plant's relationship with the genre goes beyond mere influence; it represents the true spirit, care, and artistic curiosity. His deep involvement in this tradition has managed to expand the audience for Americana music to a global level," said Jed Hilly.

For information, the award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, United States, on September 16.

The organizers said that the list of additional performers and other event details will be announced in the coming weeks.
