JAKARTA - Singer and member of Commission X DPR RI, Once Mekel welcomed the discourse on implementing one-door policies by the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN). He is optimistic that the payment of centralized music royalties will also strengthen the institution itself.

"One-door policy is good, good and strengthens the institutional system. So the system is indeed a collective, not individualistic and it makes it easier for us to use, dig and also develop one work of art and culture for many people," said Once when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, citing ANTARA on Sunday, October 19.

Once conveying that the implementation of the one-door music royalties payment system is also expected to strengthen in terms of law or legality, there is a legal relationship between institutions such as LMKN or collective management institutions (LMK) that are neatly prepared and acceptable, and fulfill the principle of justice for all.

I support one-stop policy. Whether the role of LMKN or LMK is how it can be regulated in written law rules that strengthen each other's institutions. So that there is no misinterpretation anymore, so that the institutional position is strong and guarantees justice for all, of course, the most important thing is for the creators," he said.

The musician who is also a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) assessed that the current LMK needs to be simplified, the number is not too much in encouraging transparency of music royalties.

LMK's simplification plan, continued Once, is also included in the revision of the Copyright Law which is currently rolling in the House of Representatives (DPR) which also involves discussions of various stakeholders to strengthen articles that can be accepted, has a value of justice for all.

"That is the least in the discussions in the DPR and is also a plan, although this is not yet a final, but the direction is more or less so we will simplify (LMK) meaning that number will be made less. So that those who carry out truly professional can be transparent and accountable to the public," he said.

According to Once, LMK, which previously reached dozens, still had to be evaluated and corrected in order to encourage a more professional and transparent future in implementing music royalties governance.

Once emphasized the importance of transparency, especially related to royalties, because LMK or LMKN are not institutions for profit search, but as non-profit institutions in the law.

Therefore, continued Once, all funds collected from royalty payments must be distributed to those who are entitled to receive and can be displayed transparently to the public.

"So in the future we have to work together with a rational mind, what kind of system is this. The number of LMKs up to 16 or 17 yes, this really has to be evaluated so that only people who have the ability, have the capability, have the mentality to build, work for many people who sit there, "said Once.

Previously, the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) presented a digital Inspiration system to support music royalty payment services as part of implementing a one-door policy to improve royalty governance.

"With the Inspiration, all royalty payment processes are centralized at LMKN and can be accessed easily by commercial users," said LMKN Chairman Creator Andi Mulhanan Kunciotutu.
