JAKARTA - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, became an important guest in the launch of the book of the legendary musician, Enteng Tamal. The book entitled Understanding Copyright and Royalty Governance in the Indonesian Music Industry was introduced at the Indonesian National Library, Jakarta, Thursday, October 9 yesterday.
This launch event is also a celebration of Enteng Tamal's 81st Anniversary, a persistent figure who voices the copyright management of Indonesian musicians.
Menbud Fadli Zon welcomed the birth of this book, just as copyright issues and royalty management were crucial in the midst of rapid advances in digital technology. He said that copyright and royalties management should follow the existing times.
"The advancement of technology makes the music industry more complex. Therefore, copyright regulations and governance must continue to be adjusted to the times," said Fadli in a written statement, October 10.
He also explained that the Ministry of Culture was holding an Indonesian Music Conference (KMI) at the Sultan Hotel Jakarta on October 8, 2025, which brought together musicians, songwriters, promoters, writers, and managers of the music industry. The forum is expected to be a space for dialogue to build a healthy, economic-powered music ecosystem, and act as cultural diplomacy.
"Music is a soft power that unites us, accompanies people's lives in every atmosphere," said Fadli Zon.
The struggle to fix copyright management is also a concern for the government which now encourages music as an important part of Cultural and Creative Industry (CCI), a sector that relies on individual creativity and talent to create social and economic value.
