Kunto Aji's Response Seeing Three DPR Members From Artists Deactivated

JAKARTA - Kunto Aji became one of the great musicians in the country who voiced his aspirations at the #SeniLawanTirania event which was held today in the Taman Ismail Marzuki area, Cikini, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 1.

The 38-year-old singer expressed her disapproval when she learned that the deactivation of the four members of the Indonesian House of Representatives "Ahmad Sahroni, Nafa Urbach, Eko Patrio, and Uya Kuya" did not mean they had been removed from their positions.

"Earlier I also just found out about the inactiveness, it turns out that there is no real thing," Kunto told the media crew after delivering the oration in front of the mass demonstration.

"Yes, our hope is clear, our demands to be replaced, removed. If possible, the party must take the initiative and need improvement," he continued.

Kunto did not want to think biased, considering that three of the four members of the Indonesian House of Representatives who were deactivated came from artists. For him, the essence is that what DPR members have done has offended the wider community.

"Yes, that's a consequence, with what they did. Who do you want to be an artist, who do you really want to be, it's the same. Already a member of the council, he is a member of the council. A member of the council is not a priyayi," he said.

Kunto also expressed his readiness to take part in other demonstrations with the wider community, not only among art actors and lovers. However, he wants the action to be carried out to be measurable.

"I want to (go down to the streets), from yesterday. It's just that I always update what the conditions are like, in the field," said Kunto.

"We want to voice it but we have to do it measuredly. But if later I will go down? It's very possible," he added.

The Pilu Membiru singer also talked about the reason why he was willing to take part in the #SeniLawanTirania action. For him, the anxiety about the performance of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives has accumulated and it is time to be completed.

The pain has been mounting the term. We've all felt for years that these officials can say anything and without the consequences they face. As if like, 'Yes, what can you do?'. That's the gesture we've experienced over the years. So, it exploded. Exploded from the 25th (August) yesterday," he said.
