Piyu Agrees With Anji Regarding The Need For A Law On Management Of The Music Industry

JAKARTA - Piyu and Ari Bias agreed with what was conveyed by their colleague at the All-Indonesian Composter Association (AKSI), Anji, who mentioned the need for a law specifically intended for the governance of the music industry.

Just like Anji, Piyu sees the Copyright Law as the basis for music governance, especially royalties, which is still not specific and detailed in regulating the music ecosystem.

"Yes, that's right, I agree, because it must exist. The current Copyright Law applies, Law Number 28 of 2014, not yet specific, not specifically regulates music governance in Indonesia," Piyu said when met at Senayan, South Jakarta recently.

And this Copyright Law has other copyrights. There is a wide area, there is copyright for books, there is copyright for paintings, there is copyright for sculptures, for photography and all kinds of things, including music," he continued. .

According to him, a specific law regulating the music industry can better reach all parties who are in the music ecosystem.

"Because it will be related to many things, such as how the company records the rules, what kind of publishing rules, then including LMK as well as what rules, and what kind of EO (event organizer) is possible. So there are all the rules, so that in the future it will be more regular," said the General Chair of the ACTION.

According to Piyu, Ari Bias added, the issue of the music industry has not been clearly regulated in the Copyright Law. In fact, according to him, the regulation should not be gray.

"It is necessary to law the music ecosystem, because the business of the music industry is complex," said Ari.

"And it needs legal certainty. Because so far we have a lot of ambiguous, many are gray. Well, there must be a law that can make it black and white. There is no more gray," he said.
