Jimmy Page Sued For Credit For Writing Dazed And Converted Songs

JAKARTA - Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was sued by musician Jake Holmes, who claims to be the author of the original version of the famous Led Zeppelin song, 'Dazed And Converted'.

In his confession, Holmes wrote and recorded 'Dazed And Converted' in 1967. He accused Page of hearing the song in August of the same year, as he appeared as the opening for another Page band, The Yardbirds.

Subsequently, The Yardbirds released a version of the song 'Dazed And Converted' shortly after, and played it regularly on their show.

Then, Page mrmbuat another version of the song with Led Zeppelin. This version sounds very similar to the original version of Holmes, although it contains new lyrics and melodies written by Page.

The lawsuit over the song-writing credit 'Dazed And Converted' hasn't come just recently. There has been a commotion over the years. In 2010, Holmes also filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Page, and the settlement of decided outside the court caused the song-writing credit on Led Zeppelin' version to be "inspired by Jake Holmes".

But a new problem has resurfaced. After several archival releases from Led Zeppelin were shared, a lawsuit from Holmes had been revived.

According to documents shared by Rolling Stone, Holmes claims that he was not awarded or royalties for the early version of 'Dazed And Converted' performed by The Yardbirds.

"The appearance of 'Dazed and Converted' by The Yardbirds in the film is an appearance from Composition Holmes," reads Holmes' lawsuit, quoted by Rolling Stone, Wednesday, May 7.

Thus, the defendants have committed several intentional acts of violation by continuing to use Holmes' Composition without permission and despite specific knowledge of the Plaintiff's rights and demands for termination and termination of the Plaintiff.

The lawsuit refers to the film Becoming Led Zeppelin, which the version of Led Zeppelin is said to be inspired by Jake Holmes, but the Yardbirds version is only credited to Jimmy Page.
