In a recent interview with Rock 111 Mexico, Evans was asked about the position of rock music, which in recent years has been behind pop and rap music in the mainstream.
Trying to answer the question, Evans said that the main reason rock music is behind pop and rap music is because no one listens to it anymore.
The reason (rock) wasn't big was because they didn't play it on the radio. The last rock band that the big label contracted was about 20 years ago," said Evans.
"I'm not talking about metal; I'm talking about rock and roll, rock music. No rock action has been contracted for 25 years. So if people don't hear it, how can they like it?" he continued.
Evans also wrote autocritical to current rock musicians. He said rock songs no longer have a soul, when compared to works from the 1970s and 1980s.
"A lot of music is quite clinical, very clinical. You come back and listen to bands like Led Zeppelin and Free that's when you feel it, friend. Really feel it," said the vocalist.

Evans saw that many young musicians were busy with technical skills, but lost their sense when playing their musical instruments. Carlos Santana was used as an example, a guitarist who was able to hypnotized people by playing only one tone.
People like to watch it (games with high technique) and think it's smart. After two or three songs, you're bored half to death. Then you want to go home. So, humanity in music is very important. Feelings, souls, that's music," he said.
