JAKARTA - Pete Best has announced his retirement from the music world. The Beatles' first drummer shared his reasons through recent social media posts.

Pete's name may not be as popular as his successor, Ringo Starr. But this 83-year-old musician became one of the pioneers of the birth of the legendary Liverpool band in the early 60s.

Through his brother Roag's account, Pete Best will stop appearing as a performer. Later he was known to be quite active with the Pete Best Band project before choosing to hang a stick.

"Wow, this is a great journey. However, everything will end," wrote Roag on X quoting Billboard, 7 Aprik.

"My sister Pete Best today announced that she will retire from her personal appearance and appear with the group. Her daughter told me that it happened because of personal circumstances," he continued.

65 years of adventure in the music scene, Pete has felt enough. He shared Roag's upload and gave a short comment, "I really enjoyed it. Thank you."

Pete Best's involvement with The Beatles began in the 50s, where he made friends with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ken Brown. Those who were then named The Quarrymen performed at the Casbah Coffee Club, one of Liverpool's hangout places.

It's a shame the story of Pete Best with The Beatles has only been going on for two years. In 1962 he left the group, allegedly due to skill and chemistry problems that could not mingle with other personnel.
