Maudy Ayunda's Story Offers Collaboration To Iwan Fals

JAKARTA - Collaboration with Iwan Fals is an interesting thing that colored the release of Maudy Ayunda's fourth studio album entitled One Day. The two of them had a duet in a single entitled Puisi Kota.

This song reflects the complexity of urban society in finding the meaning of life, finding identity, and giving hope in the midst of social challenges and the hustle and bustle of the modern world.

Maudy wrote this song based on her personal reflection in finding meaning and clarity in the midst of the hustle and bustle of life.

Realizing that the song has a deep message, Maudy feels insecure if she performs it alone. Finally, the decision taken was to sing it together with Iwan Fals.

"I'm afraid when people hear, the message will not be reached later, because I think I'm still young, right. So I think if Om Iwan participates in conveying, the message will arrive more," said Maudy Ayunda during a hearing session with the media crew in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 3.

According to Maudy, Iwan Fals' musical journey is the best proof. He has such great respect for the 'Bongkar' singer.

"Anyway (at Om Iwan) there is courage in work and honesty in work, which I really really respect and really appreciate," said Maudy.

"But why (collaboration with) Om Iwan, because he is a figure that I really consider a dream collaborator. Because he is very inspiring for me, as a singer and songwriter," he continued.

Maudy respects Iwan Fals continued when he offered the song. He said Iwan Fals did not change what he had done at all.

"When I first brought this song to Om Iwan, I said 'Om Iwan, I want to change it too, I want to change it, please.' But Om Iwan said, 'No, I already like it.' Then there I was really shocked. Because that's what Om Iwan meant, he wanted to make my work, the work of a junior musician," he said.

"And yes, that's the approve again if Om Iwan is that very, very open and as supportive as that."
