JAKARTA - Lalisa Manoban, better known as Lisa, has again reaped success as a soloist, apart from her music career with Blackpink.

Through the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs 2024), Lisa received the first award for the single 'Rockstar', her debut song after leaving the YG Entertainment agency.

Lisa won in the Best K-Pop category. The 27-year-old singer and rapper from Thailand is ahead of Jungkook ft. Latto in Seven, NCT Dream in Smoothie, NewJeans in Super Shy, Stray Kids in LALA, and Tomorrow X Together in Drejmen vu.

"Thank you MTV VMAs for this award. 'Rockstar' is a very meaningful comeback for me. So, this (appreciation) is very special for me," Lisa said as the winner, citing VMAs' Instagram upload, Thursday, September 12.

This award is the second for Lisa at VMAs. Previously, the youngest member of Blackpink also won in the Best K-Pop category for the song 'Lalisa' in 2022.

In this year's event, Lisa was also nominated for three other categories, namely Best Art Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Editing, but failed to win.

In addition to receiving the award, Lisa was also given the opportunity to perform two of her songs as a soloist, 'New Woman' and 'Rockstar'.
