Derrick Green Reveals Moment When Eloy Casagrande Decides To Leave Sepultura

JAKARTA - Derrick Green (vocals) admitted that he was surprised when he first learned of Eloy Casagrande's (ex- drum) decision to leave Sepultura. Currently, his position has been replaced by Greyson Nekrutman (drums).

Green said information about Casagrande's exit was obtained from Andreas Kisser (guitar) by telephone.

Andreas (contacted with me and he) said, 'Yo...' I said, 'What's going on?' He said, 'He's out.' I was like, 'What do you think? What are you talking about? Who's out?' And then he just, like, 'Yeah, Eloy is out.', said Derrick Green in the latest episode of the podcast Life One Chance With Toby Morse.

"And I fell into a black hole, like, 'What are you talking about?' It was really surealis. It was really like it was in a slow motion. I was just trying to breathe. And he explained everything," he continued.

Green was really surprised by the news of Casagrande's sudden exit.

"And I'm just trying to understand it, because it's been 13 years playing with this guy. And I'm really shocked. I was like, 'Sobat, what are we going to do?' And we're in this position, where things are changing so fast,' Green said.

Upon receiving the news, Green was in the United States, while other personnel were in Brazil.

At that time, said Green, Sepultura had decided to hold a farewell tour. He is also ready to go to Brazil to start training.

When all personnel and teams were aware of Casagrande's decision, the meeting was held in Brazil, but Green was not there yet.

"(Eloy) wanted to meet everyone in the band and with the managers and everything, and I wasn't there. But he came and it was like, 'I did this show. I signed the contract. And I left.'," concluded Derrick Green.
