Billy Joel Reveals The Main Reason For No Longer Writing New Songs

JAKARTA - At the age of 75, Billy Joel is still active on the music stage. Most recently, the songwriters from New York appeared at the inauguration concert at Madison Square Garden's iconic venue.

Although still confident to appear on the big stage, the singer of Just The Way You Are admits that she has her own fear of working on new works. Therefore, no new songs have been released in recent years.

"I can't be as good as I want," said Billy Joel when asked the main reason he no longer wrote songs, during a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

"It makes me crazy. It also destroys my personal life. You can't feel satisfied, and drinking (drugs) is a problem because of that," continued Joel.

Talking about the many songs that have been written, Joel also admitted that many songs were not released, and he did not regret them.

"I could see 25 percent of what I wrote, and then throw it away and don't miss it at all," he said.

Furthermore, Joel also talked about his personal life and music career. Even though he has had an extraordinary career, there is something that makes him not satisfied.

"You know, I've been married and divorced several times and I said, 'When will I feel satisfied with myself?'," said Billy Joel.

There was a quote from Neil Diamond. He said, 'I have forgiven myself for not being a liar'. And I read the quote and said, 'That's my problem. I haven't forgiven myself for not being my partner. And to this day, I still haven't forgiven myself,' he concluded.
