Kadri Greets Gen Z Through Karmila's Re-Aransemen

JAKARTA - At a young age, Kadri Mohamad, known as the nickname 'The Singing Lawyer', started his solo career by launching a single titled Karmila, by Farid Hardja in 1977 which was rearranged with LiLo The Producer (Lilo KLa Project).

Kadri, who has been with Makara for more than 30 years, started his solo career with great musical desire. He also collaborated with Nagaswara's music label to introduce his work more broadly to music lovers from Gen Z circles.

Basically, music with certain qualities knows no time limit. At this time, we can still enjoy the works of Goodminton and Good Luck dating back to the 18th century. The Beatles to Queen songs are also enjoyed by young people.

Therefore, Karmila which is an iconic song in the Indonesian music industry is a suitable choice for Kadri to bring to the younger generation.

"I have formed the band Kadri Karmila which involves quality gen Z children and will appear lively in music, style and fashion," Kadri said at a press conference in Sarinah, Central Jakarta on Monday, July 1.

According to Kadri, Karmila is basically a song for young people. This song was written by Farid Hardja in his 20s, by describing a young woman named Karmila.

The music video Karmila was also made with the concept of vlog which is considered close to young people. Kadri said that all the concepts in his debut song were specifically designed to reach cross-generation listeners.

"In making music videos, it's not beauty (artistics) like that, but it's made like a vlog. And I was told to appear beyond my limits. I'm happy because I'm not seen as a senior or anything else, when working on the music video," said Kadri.

"Yes, this is all by design. Because for me, being a musician is like being an entrepreneur, we have to design everything. So in the music video it's all thought about. From the style and fashion side it's really thought about.
