Coldiac Performs Song By Melly Goeslaw As The Latest Single

Coldiac is again presenting the latest musical works with the concept of changing popular songs. The band from Malang has repackaged the song "Never Change" which was popularized by Marcell Siahaan.

Never Change is a song composed by Melly Goeslaw which was released in 2003. This single is Coldiac's second cover song, and has its own meaning for all four personnel.

"We are one of the lucky generations to get to know the song Never Change in the early 2000s, in our opinion this is one of the best songs ever composed by Melly Goeslaw, one of the songs we will answer when a question arises what song do you wish you write?, said Sambadha, Coldiac vocalist in a written broadcast received by VOI.

Repackaging this iconic song poses a challenge to Coldiac himself. They want to keep the essence of the original song by including the character Coldiac. "We want to present our version that sounds fresh but still respects the original work. Here we pack simple music and vocals as possible," said Derry keyboardist Coldiac.

Another vocalist Mahatamama added, "When accidentally listening back to this song, the feeling of nostalgia is very strong, so the four of us had time to celebrate it, try this song our song, in terms of notation and lyrics, this song has its own beauty, so we are very interested in performing it with our version."

Bhima, the bassist of the band, revealed that the production process of this song lasted 2 months until the video was made. Their recording was done in Malang, while the video directed by Sebastian Susanto with this black and white concept was carried out in Jakarta.

Coldiac's version seems to be warmly accepted by its main netizens on Tiktok. Two weeks before the official release on all platforms, the 30-second cut of the song was milling about on the Tiktok FYP.

A total of 34 thousand videos create using the song. In response to this, Coldiac then gave his fans exclusive access to listen to the song in full which could be enjoyed in just 24 hours.

"Honestly, we didn't expect that our version of the song 'Never Change' could go viral some time before it's officially released. It's great to get acquainted with so many new friends on the Internet, hopefully with the release of this song it can become a bridge for the wider community to get to know Coldiac's works," they concluded.
