Music Producer Tom Zutaut Calls Johnny Depp The Worst Guitarist He's Ever Seen

JAKARTA - Johnny Depp's story as a musician before being widely known as an actor was nothing new. However, a music producer named Tom Zutaut remembers him as a bad guitarist.

Tom Zutau is a well-known artist and repertoire (A&R) executive from the United States. He is known as the person who signed Motley Cr\"ie and Guns NRoses.

In an interview with the recent X5 Podcast, Zutaut revealed that after seeing the initial audition of a band where Depp played before becoming famous in Hollywood, he chose to ignore the actor's musical talent.

"I don't think Johnny Depp will be a rock star," said Tom Zutaut, starting his meeting story with Depp.

"You know, Johnny Depp auditioned for me twice. This is a funny story. I went to practice, the manager was my friend, and he said, 'I got this band from my dad. They were great.' I went to meet them, and they were really bad. Johnny Depp is the worst guitarist I've ever seen, but his charisma is crazy," said Zutaut.

After that, I met the manager, and I said, 'Listen, pal, he can't come, but you have to find an agent for this kid and show it on TV or movies. This kid is a star, but the songs are bad, and his musical skills are bad.'

A few months after the meeting, said Zutaut, Johnny Depp also managed to get an acting agent and got a role in the television series 21 Jump Street.
