Laufey Calls The Importance Of Social Media For A Musician

JAKARTA - Laufey expressed his view on the role of social media for a musician. For him, social media such as TikTok is important as a tool to introduce a musician and his work.

Born and raised in Iceland, then studied in the United States and started his music career there, Laufey said social media gave him the same opportunity to become known to the world.

"I feel a lot of artists tend to badmouth TikTok," Laufey said during a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

"This is not the most romantic way to promote your music, but I grew up in Iceland, which is a floating stone in my neck. I study at Berklee, a great music training ground, but there is no direct relationship between that place and the music industry," Laufey continued.

What TikTok and social media do for me is give me the same opportunity to introduce myself to the world. And for that, I can't just accept it."

It is undeniable that Laufey has changed drastically in the past year. His tour to many countries received a good response from music lovers, but the 24-year-old singer wanted to give herself a little space to stay creative and maintain the momentum of his music.

I have to live to write. But I'm also trying to discipline myself to write directly. In my opinion, this is a misunderstanding that you just have to wait for inspiration to come to you. I think musicians and writers can train themselves to see inspiration right away. And that's one of the greatest tools you can develop as songwriters," he concluded.
