JESSEN Tuang's Personal Story In Balad's Song, 'Happy Ya You'

JAKARTA - The pop-R&B musician named JESENN stage presents the latest song entitled "Happy you". The single has been officially released on all digital streaming platforms (DSP) since Friday, March 15 yesterday.

The owner's real name Jason Gunawan presents a more lax and fragile side of himself. He poured these feelings through the stabbing lyrics and arrangements.

A 3-minute and 57-second ballad is almost completely filled by JESENN's single piano and very clear vocal texture, before reaching its emotional climax at the last verse. Packed as a contemplation dialogue between JESENN and a figure of the past who is no longer a part of his life, "happy you are" to describe his anxiety, reluctance, and finally, sincerity.

According to JESENN, who took part as the sole author for his latest song, "Happy you are" inspired by a heartache which, at that time, was still very fresh in the mind of the 26-year-old musician.

"I started writing this song exactly a week after I separated from my partner," said JESENN. "Then, I found a question, 'When, yes, can the sky be blue again?' and suddenly I could see the skeleton and mood of the song I wanted to create. You could say, 'dependence' is a common thread that brings together all fragments of the lyrics and the verse that composes the song 'Happy you'," he said in a written broadcast.

In this song JESSEN included the true story he experienced. That way, the message he conveys will more reach the heart.

"Nothing is made up in the lyrics of this song. That's why I am so grateful that Dimas Wibisana is willing to become a music producer for this song. I think it takes observant eyes and ears to be able to turn this quite specific personal story into a universal poetic narrative."

The "Happy you" ballad is also a rare moment for JESENN; the musician also decided to get out of his comfort zone and write his latest song alone without assistance from the songwriter from outside. According to the musician, who previously took part independently, writing songs alone is also a form of his efforts to grow as an art activist.
