Singapore Admits There Are Grant Funds Used To Bring Taylor Swift

JAKARTA - Singapore recognizes the grant funds disbursed to bring in Taylor Swift to hold a concert in her country for six days.

The admission was stated jointly by the Singapore Tourism Council (STB) and the Ministry of Community, Culture and Youth (MCCY).

"STB also supports (Taylor Swift concert) through grant funds," STB said, launching Channel News Asia, Thursday, February 22.

The joint statement also said that MCCY and Kallang Alive Sport Management had worked directly with AEG so that Swift could appear at the National Stadium Singapore. They realized there would be significant requests from local and regional fans from the concert.

"This is a golden opportunity to boost Singapore's economy, especially tourism," the statement read.

However, Singapore did not comment on the statement by the Thai Prime Minister, Sretta Thavisin, who stated that there was an agreement that made Taylor Swift only hold concerts in Singapore for the Southeast Asia region.

The Singapore government is clever. If he comes to Thailand, it will be cheaper to host him here, and I'm sure he will be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand. While we have to subsidize at least 500 million baht (Rp. 219 billion), it will be useful, "said Srettha Thavisin.

Furthermore, Sretta said he would try to bring Taylor Swift if the reality was like that. He said the music concert gave added value.

If I knew about this, I would take the show to Thailand. Concerts can generate added value to the economy," he concluded.
