Contributing To Music And Philanthropy, Jon Bon Jovi Receives Award From MusiCares Awards 2024

JAKARTA - Jon Bon Jovi received the MusiCares Person of The Year award at the 2024 MusiCares Award which was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, United States on Friday, February 2 local time.

The Bon Jovi vocalist received an award from the philanthropic Recording Academy organization for his contribution to music and philanthropy.

As the recipient of this year's award, Jon Bon Jovi is recognized for his efforts in establishing the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation to reduce hunger and homelessness.

When he received the award, Jon paid an emotional tribute to Bruce Springsteen who attended the event even though he was in mourning. That night, they performed a duet and performed the song Who Says You Can't Go Home that night.

"I want to thank my friend and mentor, Bruce Springsteen. Bruce and Pam's mother died two days ago," said Bon Jovi, starting his speech, launching People, Wenin, February 5.

When I first got the news, he was already on the plane on his way here. I would definitely understand if he said he couldn't attend, but he wanted to be here tonight to attend MusiCares. He wants to be here tonight for me, and I'll be forever grateful to you."

Furthermore, Jon also paid tribute to another musician who had also received the same award, Paul McCartney.

"I have to say thank you to the former recipient of this award, Sir Paul McCartney. But I think it's fair to say that the reason most of us are in this room is because of you. So, thank you very much," said the 61-year-old singer. "Everything I have accomplished, with or without a band, or in my philanthropic life, has the support of my family, my friends, bandmates, collaborators, and a team of willing people, who have been ready to make my decisions," he continued.

"Music moves us. Music moves us when we are happy, and entertains us when we are sad. Music unites us, and when we may not have much in common, there are still similarities, namely the song."

After delivering his speech, Jon Bon Jovi celebrated by singing Livin' on a Prayer with other performers, namely Bruce Springsteen, Melissa Etheridge, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Pat Monahan, Shania Twain, Goo Goo Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Lenny Kravitz, Gayle King, Katharine happenede, Ted Danson, and Sabrina Carpenter.
