Dodhy Miss Not Intending To Ban Andika Even Though The Song Is Often Taken Secretly

JAKARTA - The prohibition of singing songs by the authors against bands or singers has been busy in the Indonesian music industry in the past year. The reason that is often stated is the small payment of royalties compared to the fees received by the performers.

Dodhy Kangen has also felt the same way, he did not get royalties from Andika who appeared at an event several times alone. However, the incident did not necessarily make the Kangen Band guitarist ban the songs he wrote by the vocalist.

"If I don't forbid it. Only Andika likes to hide in my song," said Dodhy Kangen in Cinere, Depok, Tuesday, January 9.

"Only now is the social media era, so you can't lie, you can't cover it up," he continued.

Responding to several songwriters who forbade certain singers to perform their songs, Dodhy believes everyone has a strong reason for their choice. He felt it was very natural for songwriters to be disappointed because the royalty value was too small, especially not to be paid properly and properly.

For creators who prohibit it, they must have a reason. Maybe he (the singer) has already received money from stage to stage but the creator can't. That's why they forbade it. What's better is that we just share it with the creator of the song," he said.

Dodhy himself admitted that there were no royalty problems with the Kangen Band personnel, even though he was the writer of many hits produced by the band so far. He said all royalties had been signed in the contract.

"It's according to the contract too. For digital royalties from labels, creators and singers are different," said Dodhy.

Meanwhile, regarding the writing of the song Kangen Band which was written together, Dodhy said that he and Andika usually get the same percentage.

"We have arranged it, professionalism is not only divided equally. 60 percent is 30-30 I am with Andika, the rest is for others," concluded Dodhy Kangen.
