JAKARTA - Deep Purple keyboardist, Don Airey missed the legendary rock band concert on December 17 yesterday, at the Bandland festival in Bengaluru, India.

Airey's position was replaced by Adam Wakeman who had previously helped with the live performances of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. Adam is the son of former keyboardist Yes, Rick Wakeman.

The Bandland Festival was promoted and produced by BookMyShow Live, an event from India's leading ticket portal BookMyShow.

The event is scheduled for December 16 and December 17 at Embassy International Riding School Ground, Bengaluru.

Earlier, on December 15, Deep Purple released a statement announcing Airey's absence from their boarding house via social media.

"Due to an unexpected illness, Don Airey was unable to appear in Bandland in Bengaluru later this month. Don was very disappointed that he could not appear in India, but hoped that all fans would get a fantastic night in Bengaluru on December 17," wrote Deep Purple.

"Adam Wakeman (Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne) will appear with Deep Purple in Bandland in Bengaluru on December 17th."

Airey has been a permanent member of Deep Purple for more than 20 years. He replaced the original keyboardist, Jon Lord, who died.
