John Lennon's Last Words Before His Death Revealed: I Was Shot

JAKARTA - John Lennon's last words were expressed by officers who worked at the front table of the building where the Beatles personnel were shot.

Apple TV+'s new documentary series, John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial which investigated Lennon's shooting by an obsessed fan named Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 shared a moment where the singer of Beautiful Boy was shot and what he said briefly afterwards.

Jay Hastings works as an officer at the front table of the Dakota building in Upper West Side in Manhattan, New York, where Lennon and his family live and where he is shot outside.

'He ran past me. He said, 'I was shot'. He bleeding from his mouth. He immediately fainted on the floor,' he recalled in the documentary.

I half rolled him back and took off his glasses, put him on the table. And Yoko shouted, 'Call an ambulance, call an ambulance, call an ambulance', he continued.

Another witness featured in the documentary was Richard Peterson, a taxi driver who was sitting in his car in front of the building and watching Lennon be shot dead.

"Lennon was walking in and this kid said, 'John Lennon.' He's a fat guy. I saw him through the front window of my taxi. I was watching him shoot him (Lnnon). This guy just shot John Lennon, "said Peterson.

"I thought they were making a movie, but I didn't see a light or camera or anything so I realized, 'hei, this isn't a movie'," he continued.

John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial will premiere on December 6 on Apple TV+. Not only investigating the famous murder, this film will also explore many conspiracy theories that have emerged since the legend's death.

According to a press release, the three-part documentary will reveal a shocking detail of Lennon's tragic murder as well as interviews with some of his closest friends, along with lawyers, psychiatrists, detectives, and defense attorney Chapman.

On the other hand in the documentary, Chapman reportedly apologized after shooting Lennon to death.
