Kiss Announces 'New Era' As Virtual Band

JAKARTA - Kiss revealed their new 'era' as a virtual band on their final farewell tour.

The band seems to be stepping down from a live show at their big show at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. Reportedly they will be the first American band to become virtual.

In the encore, the remaining band members founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, along with guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer left the stage, showing their new digital avatars.

After leaving the stage, digital avatars performed the song God Save Rock and Roll to You.

Today, the New Era Begins. #KISSARMY, the end is just the beginning!, "wrote the band on social media. KISS has been immortalized and reborn as a cool avatar forever.

AP reports that the avatar was created by George Lucas' SFX company, Industrial Light & Magic. They were also created in collaboration with Pophouse Entertainment Group, which was co-founded by Bjorman Ulvaeus of ABBA.

The two companies previously worked together to create a virtual concert ABBA Voyage in London, which also featured the Swedish band appearing as a digital avatar.

"What we have achieved is extraordinary, but it's not enough. This band deserves to live because the band is bigger than us. It's great for us to step into the next step and see Kiss immortalized," Stanley told NME.

"We can be forever young and forever become icons by taking us to places we have never dreamed of before," Simmons added.

"This technology will make Paul jump higher than he has ever done before," he concluded.
